Took a Break - Here's where I've Been! - Sincerely Styled

Hi, guys! I have been itching to write this post for a little while. I took a LONG break from both social media and blogging, and, while it is SO good to be back, I felt like a quick post about where I’ve been would be appropriate. I’m also just in the mood to share it, in case anyone can relate or is going through something similar :).

So I got married to the love of my life on June 5, 2020! Becoming a wife and managing a household in 2020 really put things into perspective. One, it is a LOT and, even though I’ve been a mom for 4.5 years now, wifely/homemaker duties are mostly new to me – and are no joke! Logan and I lived at home with my parents before Jeff and I got married, so my mom helped me out A TON. She has always cooked very lavish dinners on a nightly basis, so that was never something I needed to pick up, and, while it’s embarrassing to say, she even did Logan’s laundry most of the time. I didn’t ask her to, ofc, but you know grandmas (or, as Lo calls her, Nina) :).

Anyway, the newness of this and how grave 2020 was in general made me realize how important it was to me to be fully present with my family. And, it probably isn’t difficult to see how blogging can make doing that a bit hard at times (lots of times) since you’re always wanting to capture content. And since the internet never sleeps, the line for that work/life balance becomes extremely blurred.

Before I made the decision to take a break from blogging, I felt like every single minute of the life we were living needed to be documented and every minute of downtime needed to be put toward growing my social media accounts, whether it be creating content, publishing, engaging with my audience, coming up with new ideas, keeping up with what other bloggers were doing, etc. etc.

While it’s not easy to say, I think the reason Jeffrey and I didn’t get married right away was because I was so focused on the blog that he really wasn’t a priority of mine. HATE saying it, but it was my truth for that period of my life. I felt like all I had time for was Logan and the blog. I had tunnel vision – and I am so grateful to be out of that place now.

I did a major a realignment of my priorities, and Jeff has continued to support me. He and Logan (and our imminent baby) will always be my number one – and if it means I can’t post every day, so be it! The phase of life we are in is too precious and beautiful not to cherish.

So the plan is to slowly pick things back up, but with a completely different perspective. Rather than setting my sights on growing fast, fast, now, now, I am going to focus on sharing valuable content if and when I can. That’s it!

I love sharing our life as a family and how we are growing and adapting to the life Jeff and I are building, so I will continue to do that, just as long as I maintain a healthy balance between blogging and real life :).

Thank you so much for letting me share that and for welcoming me back to your phone screens. It’s so good to be here! :*

xx, Brittany
