Hi, babes! If you havent yet heard, I have a new series where I share a tip every week on my Instagram Stories and right here! It could be pertaining to fashion, beauty, lifestyle, or mom life—really, anything! I received a really big response to this one, covering healthy sunscreen, after sharing it to my stories because it is apparently not talked about enough!

Certain media claims have stated that sunscreen may cause more harm to our skin than the sun, itself. But to discontinue the use of sunblock is NOT the course we want to take! Something we might not all be aware of is that there is a difference between GOOD SUNSCREEN and BAD SUNSCREEN, and it is something to pay particularly close attention to if you are a parent or have children in your care. I personally don’t like to use the “bad” sunscreens on myself, but it wasn’t until I had Logan that I grew hyper aware of it.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR:

Good, healthy, safe sunscreens typically only contain ZINC OXIDE and/or TITANIUM DIOXIDE. That’s it! Less is definitely more when it comes to sunblock ingredients!!

Sunscreens and products to avoid: A quick way to determine if a sunscreen is safe for you or a little one is to check for the chemical names beginning with the letter ‘O.’ These are TOXIC and ones you want to steer clear from! (“Octinoxate,” “Octisalate,” and “Oxybenzone”).

Some great, safe brands:

BANANA BOAT BABY: I love recommending this one because not only is it safe, it is on the affordable side and is carried at every drug or grocery store.

AVEENO BABY: similar to Banana Boat, it is easily accessible at most places!

SUNBUM: They make so many different sun-safe products, all vegan, gluten-free, and cruelty-free, but I was most excited to learn about their mineral spray because I had yet to find a sunscreen spray without the dreaded ‘O’s!

COOLA: Their products are plant-sourced and rich in antioxidants, and they ALSO have an O-free mineral spray!

Just a side note: I always use at least 30 SPF on myself and at least 50 SPF on any kids in my care! 🙂

I hope this was helpful! Love you guys! Stay sun-safe!

xx Brittany
