DRESS-ING FOR WINTER

neutral slip dress layered over an ivory turtleneck and taupe over-the-knee boots

Layer Weather in Chicago

Hieee! I’m so excited that Christmas is so close to being here! Last night we went over to my in-laws’ and baked cookies and wore matching pajamas, which is the biggest cliché possible, but we had to comply with my future mother-in-law. I happen to love cheesy things like that. Coziness, sugar, family! Yes, please! Today, we’re planning to continue with the cheese and take Logan (almost 9 months old) to see and sit on Santa’s lap. I’m sure she’ll love it ? This one is for my future sister-in-law, who is still in high school and working as one of Santa’s elves this year, ha! So cute.

Anyway, on to this look: One way to get more wear out of your strappy dresses? Layer them over a turtleneck! It’s a quick and simple way to take any dress from fall to winter and even to your next holiday shindig since turtlenecks have a wintry feel about them and keep you super warm. I love the movement of this dress, as well as its silky soft material, which gives it an understated elegant feel.

Pairing lower hems is with over-the-knee boots is a great alternative to tights for those nippier days.

We were walking to the lakefront at Belmont Harbor and passed by this beautiful temple. My dad is jewish, so I grew up going to jewish Sunday school, and it was a nice to visit this synagogue, even for just a moment, since it had been so long.

This building’s rose-gold accents were the perfect complement to the hue of the dress.
My youngest brother has such a knack for photography. Even though we were just using my iPhone 7 Plus, he was able to catch cool action photos, like this bus one :).
